ABOUT LAURA NEWBROUGH

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I learned a lot about business at a young age. I learned the value of planning, innovating, trust, and the importance of empowering others. I knew then that one day I wanted to own my own business. Starting my career in the administration side, working for a small, growing and exciting tech company in Chicago, I was fortunate to have a mentor show me the ropes and teach me to be an advocate not only for others and other businesses. Moving to Arizona, I landed in the engineering and construction sector, utilizing my financial and analytical abilities as a project accountant and controller. I had an opportunity to develop skill after skill, leveraging every opportunity I received from my mentor. I learned that learning about anything and everything can really take you places. Entering into the next chapter of my career, I had the luxury of experiencing that entrepreneurial spirit, working for a start-up firm here in Phoenix. Wearing multiple hats and with limited resources, like every start-up, I had to be creative, attentive, and agile as I worked to keep up with the growth of the organization. Through building and streamlining the administration and finance aspects of the business, I began my path into Human Resources. Over the years, I built out a fully robust HR system as the company grew in size from 8 people, to over 100. I worked to build a culture of trust and psychological safety, ensuring there was opportunity for everyone at every level, resulting in Best Places to Work awards year after year. Collaborating with the leadership and executive team, I leveraged technology, employee feedback and input, and HR best practices to focus on scalable processes and systems allowing the company to grow, without needing to change the fundamentals. I designed, developed and implemented multi-level training curriculums and platforms, promotion and succession planning, HR policies, employee engagement tactics, and retention strategies in line with the company’s goals and strategic initiatives. Navigating through the uncertainty and unchartered waters of the pandemic, I successfully implemented policies, procedures, engagement strategies, which lead to a change in the company’s workforce a remote workforce where productivity was increased by over 14%.  This also allowed us to open our talent pool nation-wide, attract exceptional talent, and reduce time-to-fill. I love working one-to-one with people. Whether it is training someone to interview, working with a manager to prepare them for difficult conversations or working through conflict management, I find that role playing or just simply being there to bounce ideas around provides tremendous value. I offer an always-open door with personal service and one-to-one guidance in a customized approach. I look forward to new experiences, new relationships and providing high-level HR services and value in the ever-changing world of talent!
